Fighting a loosing Battle

When I saw Ganguly giving a brief interview with a television channel, I thought of writing few lines about this good cricketer. He is retiring. In fact he was made to retire. Not going too much into detail what is happening back doors, for a person who wishes to give his or her comments simply basing on the television reports and news papers, this looks little pathetic. With Democle's sword swinging on his head for the past two years with every time being first person to be dispensed with, it has been really a difficult journey for him ever since his removal as a captain. Often faced with humiliation of being spotted as a lone black sheep in the entire team, it has been an unbecoming struggle for a most successful captain India has ever produced. His despensation from the team, way back in the first instance looked unceremonious. People consistingly talking , writing, bad about him looked near frenetic effort to make mountain out of a mole. Not withstanding the fact that India bagged many victories under his captaincy he has been targetted, humbled, and at last muted. Afterall every body needs a decent farewell. Specially for a person who has dedicated nearly two decades of his valuable years for the sake of the country bringing glories, this is certainly not the way of bidding a farewell. His consisting performance after his re-entry some how was not looked with great respect. He has pulled himself, perhaps for too long. But there are many who are doing that. May be in a situation where many talented young players are waiting on the bench for an opportunity, selectors are seemingly getting bold and are in a hurry to get rid off the oldies. Certainly this man doesn't deserve this exit. He needs to be respected, applauded, and his momories preserved and cherished.
